Linux isn't complicated

The terminal view of a Linux computer. Looks complicated, right? Well, you don't even need to look at this.

Have you ever been scared to swap your main operating system to Linux because you're worried it will be super complicated, or otherwise don't know what it looks like? Don't worry, I was there once too. Linux can be as easy or as complicated as you want it to be. That is the beauty of freedom that it offers.

A lot of the perceived complexity for those unfamiliar with Linux is the way the user interface looks. Look, you can choose whatever you want and swap between them without uninstalling your operating system. If you don't like it, you can change it. You won't lose anything but the look. Again, you have freedom with Linux.

As above, Linux does not have to be complicated at all. Here are some screenshots of common desktop environments to help alleviate your fear:

GNOME

The GNOME project's desktop environment with some windows open. The GNOME project's desktop environment with some different windows open.

KDE

K Desktop Environment (KDE) with no windows open. K Desktop Environment (KDE) with the application launcher open.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon with the settings open. Linux Mint Cinnamon on laptop and desktop. Modern Linux Mint Cinnamon with the Applications Launcher open.

Closing note

There are a lot more desktop environments out there. Each of the three I have shown here can also be customized far more to get the colors, shape, widgets, and whatever else you could want. Just search for 'linux desktop environments'.
